Artist Statement
My work explores themes of language, consumption, and nature through abstracted organic form.
I aim to "harvest" my immediate surroundings, preserving and translating them unaltered into a new state of being in the finished piece. Text, trash, found objects, and organic materials combine in forms derived from the figure or from nature. I frequently use basic printmaking techniques combined with precise collage work to achieve my results.
I want my work to resonate with the figurative tradition, while drawing viewers' attention to the everyday realities of language, the materials we consume, and the natural world.
